01 · CHOOSE

Choosing a floor begins long before colour.

These eight decisions reduce the options with clear criteria. Confirm the final collection with samples, the current technical sheet and an assessment of the substrate.

  1. 01

    Material

Laminate, parquet, Lindura, Natureflex and design flooring have different constructions, sensations and requirements.

    What to verify

First define whether you prioritise real wood, resistance, low maintenance, reduced renovation height or water stability.

    Common mistake

Choosing from a photograph alone or assuming that every wood-look floor behaves in the same way.

  2. 02

    Water and moisture

An occasional splash is different from frequent exposure or moisture coming through the substrate.

    What to verify

Identify the room, possible source of water and the exact resistance declared for each collection.

    Common mistake

Treating “water-resistant” as suitable for every wet area or using flooring to hide an existing moisture problem.

  3. 03

    Pets

Living with animals affects cleaning, scratching, noise, grip and the amount of abrasive dirt entering the room.

    What to verify

Compare texture, use class, maintenance and acoustic comfort; plan suitable entrance mats and cleaning.

    Common mistake

Searching for an impossible scratch-proof surface or considering hardness without grip and claw noise.

  4. 04

    Underfloor heating

Compatibility depends on the complete build-up: flooring, underlay, installation and heating system.

    What to verify

Check total thermal resistance, temperature limits, commissioning protocol and manufacturer guidance.

    Common mistake

Checking only that the floor is compatible without including the underlay or reviewing the complete system.

  5. 05

    Light and colour

The same finish changes with orientation, time of day, wall colours and surrounding furniture.

    What to verify

View real samples in the room at different times and beside materials that will remain.

    Common mistake

Deciding from a phone screen or from a sample viewed only under showroom lighting.

  6. 06

    Format

Width, length and laying pattern determine visual rhythm and can enlarge, order or fragment a room.

    What to verify

Relate board size to proportions, circulation, principal light and continuity between spaces.

    Common mistake

Assuming that larger boards always make a room look bigger or choosing herringbone without planning cuts.

  7. 07

    Renovation height

In renovation, the total build-up and connections to existing elements matter as much as the finish.

    What to verify

Measure doors, stairs, kitchens, sanitary fittings and transitions; calculate flooring, underlay and adhesive where required.

    Common mistake

Buying the material before checking height, flatness and compatibility with the existing floor.

  8. 08

    Technical priorities

The best floor solves the actual use of the project; it is not simply the product with the longest specification.

    What to verify

Rank traffic, water, acoustics, maintenance, feel, installation, budget and appearance before comparing ranges.

    Common mistake

Starting with colour and adapting the technical needs to a decision that has already been made.
